The Manchester floodwall walk offers a lengthy stretch for running, dog-walking and wildlife gazing while listening to the powerful churn of the James River.
During the spring and summer, this area of the river is full of activity. Great blue heron and osprey are busy feeding off migrating fish, kayakers running the Southside Rapids down to the tidal James at the 14th Street Bridge can be seen carrying their kayaks along the Floodwall to put in for another run, while bikers and runners use the Floodwall to connect to the Manchester Climbing Wall, the 14th Street Bridge, Canal Walk, or the Belle Isle Pedestrian Bridge.
